Are you finding it harder to do things as you get older? Do you blame it on getting ‘old’? And do you avoid doing it because it’s a reminder that you are ‘getting on’?
The chances are that it has nothing to do with ageing and all to do with lack of muscle use. The good old saying of ‘Use it or Lose it’ is particularly relevant when we talk about leading an active life as opposed to a sedentary one.
Did you know that being ‘active’ is not considered to be enough as we cruise into our ‘golden years’. Activities like gardening, playing tennis and going for a walk may not be enough to keep your muscles strong.
By not using your muscles (all of them) sufficiently to keep them active, not only do they atrophy i.e. shrink, but eventually proceed to become weak to the point where every day activities become hard to execute and another saying ‘the less you do, the less you’re able to do’ is very true.
What can you do to prevent muscle loss?
When you start to lose muscle mass which impacts the quality of your life, it’s called Sarcopenia. Sarcopenia was confirmed as a chronic disease back in 2016.
In my Strength Training Workshop on 20th May, I will be giving you ways you can avoid losing your muscle mass, losing your strength and contracting this debilitating disease.
You are never too old, too weak or too disabled to start lifting weights…but the sooner you start, the better the quality of your life will be not just within 6 weeks of starting but over the next few decades.
Sign Up to my upcoming workshop “Why You Should Lift Weights” and learn that it doesn’t have to be hard to get started and that lifting weights can even be fun.
Sign up before 15th May and you’ll not only get the Early Bird price of £20 but you’ll also get a FREE Sarcopenia Assessment.
WARNING! Places are limited to just 6 people and are starting to go already.
After 6pm on Monday 15th May, ticket price will revert to the full price of £30 and the Sarcopenia Assessment is £20
