Strength Training for 60+
Strength Training is the No 1 most important activity for women over 60
Part 1 : Introduction
Use it or Lose it! Our 21st Century lifestyle is too comfortable and we are becoming less resilient … particularly as we age.
Women over 60 tend to lead less active lifestyles due to family commitments, ageing myths, cultural mindsets, Big Food and Big Pharma.
This revolutionary course teaches women over 60 how to stay strong, mobile and pain free through their later years.
The equipment (which is part of the course package) is easy to set up at home – all you need is a door, an anchor, a light loopband and a realatively small space to get started.
Part 2 : Equipment
This revolutionary Course uses door anchors, carabiners and loop bands.
Variable band resistance is friendly on the joints, easy to adjust intensity and will tuck into a corner of your holiday suitcase.
By using door anchors and bands we are no longer dependent upon gravity and most of the exerices are done in a functional upright posture functional – standing or easier seated options.
Part 3 : Technique & Guidelines
Functional, safe and effective strength training is not so much about what you do as how you do it! Technique is key – not just to get the desired results but more importantly to avoid injury – and so are the Guidelnes.
Part 4 : Warm Up
The Warm Up includes a low level pulse raiser and mobilisation. It is important to do a warm up before your workouts to prepare you for the work to follow and help reduce the chance of injury.
Part 5 : The Exercises
This Level 1 course works the main muscle groups of the Upper Body, Lower Body, Shoulders and Arms.
Part 6 : The Stretches
Stretching is done post workout. It is important that the correct technique is followed for safe and effective stretching.
Part 7 : BSTC L1 Workout
This 40 min video combines the warm-up, exercises and stretches taught in the BSTC L1 Course

Functional Longevity Specialist
I discovered Strength Training in the 80’s whilst I was looking for a way to manage my weight. I immediately recognized the many benefits of this type of exercize and went on to learn from world class trainers. I constantly update my knowledge and qualifications: I hold an MSc in Senior Exercise & Nutrition, the Functional Ageing Specialsit certificate and a L4 Strength & Conditioning Certification.
At 75, I’m as fit and as strong as I’ve ever been, tho my running suffered as a result of emergency open heart valve surgery post Covid vaccination. I never miss my strength training workouts and train religiously 2-3 times a week. They are the main reason why I can continue doing all the things I need, want and love to do.
Today, I’m living my life on Purpose – to educate, motivate and inspire women like you to take up strength training so that you too can maximise the quality and longevity of your later years.
